The Maine Lobster Festival continues its commitment to strengthening the Midcoast community through a series of recent donations supporting youth leadership, education, athletics and essential social services.

Supporting Future Leaders: Girl Scout Troop 548

Evellyn Robertson, Bella Young and Clara Young of Girl Scout Troop 548 were each awarded $200 to support their participation in the July 2026 Girl Scout National Convention in Washington, D.C.

The three scouts will join more than 10,000 Girl Scouts from across the country for this national gathering. During the convention, they will take part in community service initiatives such as donating blankets to local shelters, contributing to collaborative art projects, attending educational workshops and exploring exhibit halls. Their trip will also include visits to the National Zoo, historic monuments and the Smithsonian museums, providing a well-rounded educational and leadership experience.

Honoring Educators: Warren Community School PTF

Carrie Searle, on behalf of the Warren Community School Parent Teacher Friends, received $250 to support Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

This annual celebration recognizes the dedication and impact of local educators who go above and beyond for their students. The funds will help the school community express gratitude to teachers through special events and recognition efforts, reinforcing the value they bring to students and families every day.

Investing in Student Athletics: Medomak Valley High School Sports Boosters

Stacey Eaton, on behalf of the Medomak Valley High School Sports Boosters, received $1,000 to support ongoing and future athletic projects.

Funding will contribute to initiatives such as installing lights for the football field, creating senior banners, supporting concessions, purchasing sports equipment and team apparel and addressing additional program needs as they arise. These efforts help enhance the student-athlete experience and build school pride.

Promoting Safe Celebrations: Class of 2026 Post-Graduation Event

Kaia and Michelle Flaherty, on behalf of the Medomak Valley High School Class of 2026, were awarded $1,000 to support a post-graduation celebration planned for June.

The event is designed to provide graduates with a safe, chemical-free environment to celebrate this important milestone together. By offering a structured and engaging alternative, the initiative promotes student safety while creating lasting memories for the graduating class.

Addressing Critical Needs: Homeworthy

Shannon Shimer of Homeworthy received $1,000 to support the organization’s work serving individuals experiencing homelessness across Knox, Waldo and Lincoln Counties.

Homeworthy provides a range of services including family shelter, youth programs, case management and housing support. While many funding sources assist with major expenses such as rent and utilities, gaps remain in covering everyday essentials like transportation, laundry, phone service and storage.

These smaller but critical needs often determine whether individuals can secure employment, attend medical appointments or maintain stability. The additional support helps bridge these gaps, giving individuals a better chance to move toward long-term housing and independence.

Giving Back

Through these contributions, the Maine Lobster Festival continues to invest in the people and organizations that make the Midcoast region strong, resilient and connected.

If you or your organization would like to be considered for a donation, requests can be made on our website.
