The Maine Lobster Festival proudly continued its tradition of supporting local students by awarding several scholarships to graduating seniors from Medomak Valley High School and Oceanside High School.
The Ken Black Memorial Scholarship, in the amount of $2,000, was awarded to Kaia Flaherty, a senior at Medomak Valley High School. Kaia plans to attend the University of Maine in the fall, where she will major in nursing. This scholarship honors the legacy of Ken Black by supporting students who demonstrate dedication to their education and future careers.
The Maine Lobster Festival also recognized three outstanding students from Oceanside High School.
The Alice Crie Knight Community Service Award, presented in memory of beloved community member and long-time festival Director, Alice Crie Knight, was awarded to Reese Drinkwater in the amount of $1,000. This award celebrates a strong commitment to community service and making a positive local impact.
In addition, two $1,000 scholarships were awarded to Vincent Dillon and Becca Spearing. Becca Spearing is the current Maine Lobster Festival Delegate, representing the Festival and Maine’s lobster industry, and engaging with the community throughout her time in the role.
Through these scholarships, the Maine Lobster Festival continues its commitment to investing in the next generation by supporting education, leadership and community involvement across the Midcoast region.
