The Maine Lobster Festival benefactions committee recently donated $800 to Rockland Main Street, Inc. for the purchase of new lights in the garland of the Rockland’s iconic lobster trap tree, located in Mildred Merrill Park.
Representatives from Rockland Main Street, Inc., attended the monthly meeting of the Maine Lobster Festival to accept the donation. Brandy Perkins, Program Director for Rockland Main Street, Inc., thanked the committee and the Festival for the donation. The lights are a necessity for the upcoming Festival of Lights events, Perkins said.
Sharon Lombardo, a member of the benefactions committee, said the Maine Lobster Festival was very happy to be helping the Festival of Lights. Lombardo will bring the festival’s giant lobster, Rocky, to the Parade of Lights on Saturday, Nov. 28, and 2024 Maine Lobster Festival Delegate Caitlyn Lamb will be at the tree lighting on Friday, Nov. 29.
Rockland’s Festival of Lights begins on Friday, Nov. 29, at noon when Santa arrives by ship at Middle Pier.
